A College of CollegesT. J. Shanks F.H. Revell, 1887 - 288 sider The "Summer School for College Students," held at Northfield, Massachusetts, from June 30 to July 12, 1887, was an occasion in many respects without precedent. During the twelve days of its continuance, at least four hours each day were spent in listening to addresses and discussions of signal value. In the arrangement of the sequence of chapters, the topic of the addresses have determined their position. First appear those which are introductory and apologetic; next follow several which illustrate methods of Bible study and expound great Scriptural truths; and the collection closes with a series of stimulating and intense practical deliverances -- recitals, exhortations, and discussions. - Preface. |

Side 100 - He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
Side 100 - For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the Truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. He that despised Moses...
Side 98 - For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh : how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God...
Side 94 - But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak.
Side 116 - I wish that His hands had been placed on my head, That His arm had been thrown around me, And that I might have seen His kind look when He said, " Let the little ones come unto me.
Side 91 - For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities ; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Side 143 - Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring me an offering: of every man that giveth it willingly with his heart ye shall take my offering.
Side 99 - For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us...
Side 99 - For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world : but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.
Side 98 - ... but Christ being come, an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building ; neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
