It is not a vain thing for you, because it is your life. DEUT. XXXII. 47

These words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart;

and thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children; and shalt

talk of them when thou sittest in thy house, and when thou walk-

est by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest

up: and thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and

they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes; and thou shalt write

them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates. DEUT. vi.

Then said I, Wo is me, for I am undone! because I am a man of

unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips :

for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts. Then flew

one of the Seraphim unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which

he had taken with the tongs from off the altar; and he laid it upon

my mouth, and said, Lo this hath touched thy lips, and thine ini-

quity is taken away, and thy sin purged. Also I heard the voice

of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?

Whereupon, (king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the hea-

venly vision: but shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at

Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judea, and then to the

gentiles, that they should repent, and turn to God, and do works

I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou

wert cold or hot: so then, because thou art lukewarm, and neither

cold nor hot, I will spew thee out of my mouth.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good

works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. MATTHEW v. 16 261

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your

own selves. For, if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer,

he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: for he

beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth

what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect

law of liberty and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful

hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his

deed. JAMES 1. 2225.

And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest

of these is charity. 1 CORINTHIANS Xiii. 13.

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly

host, praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and

on earth peace, good-will toward men.
