FER FROM Ca 100 1934 PREFACE. THESE Sermons were preached on the Sunday mornings in Lent, 1890, in the Mission Church of S. John the Evangelist, Boston. They have been subsequently written out for publication in the hope that they may suggest helpful thoughts for meditation on one aspect of our Lord's teaching, an aspect to which our time would seem to give less than its due prominence. With the exception of S. Matthew xxiv. 19, all the Woes pronounced by our Lord, as recorded by the different Evangelists, are considered in these Sermons.
