THE FIRST DAY OF THE WEEK,
The Lord's Day.
The children being assembled, and standing in proper order, the Reader shall begin as follows:
FROM ADVENT TO EASTER.
Little children, remember how it is written,
God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the first day 1.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
In Him was life; and the life was the light of men. He was that true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world 2.
Awake, thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give you light3.
1 Gen. i 3-5.
2 John i. 1. 4. 9.
3 Eph. v. 14.
For unto you that fear his Name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings1.
FROM EASTER TO ADVENT.
Now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. For since by man came . death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive 5.
Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over Him. For in that He died, He died unto sin once: but in that He liveth, He liveth unto God".
If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with Him in glory 7.
For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that He might be Lord both of the dead and living who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto Him 8.
