To the Life, written by Dr. Johnson, a few notes attached, where the narrative appeared to require el dation, or where the biographer has sanctioned impu tions on the memory of Ascham, which appear not o to rest on insufficient authority, but to be at variance w the whole of his character, as exhibited in his life a writings.
