Attention has been paid chiefly to the Canadian and Mexican borders, where more opportunity is found to smuggle Chinese into the United States. A school for coaching Chinamen in the answers to be given in case of arrest on crossing the border, has been practically broken up through the efforts of the Government, assisted by the Canadian Pacific Railroad. The following table gives the figures for three years for arrests of Chinese persons crossing the land borders of the United States, and the disposition of their cases by United States commissioners and courts: The following gives a summary of the business transacted at the port of San Francisco, the principal port of entry for Chinese: Miscellaneous.
