IV. God did, from all eternity, decree to justify all the elect/; and Christ did, in the fulness of time, die for their sins, and

with his stripes we are healed. v. 6. All we like sheep have gone astray: we have turned every one to his own way, and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. V. 10. Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him, he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his foul an offering for fin, he shall fee his feed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall profper in his hand. v. 11. He shall fee of the travel of his foul, and shall be fatisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many: for he shall bear their iniquities. v. 12. Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the fpoil with the strong: because he hath poured out his foul unto death: and he was numbred with the tranfgreffors, and he bare the fins of many, and made interceffion for the tranfgreffors.

Rom. iii. 26. To declare, I say, at this time, his righteousness: that he might be just, and the juftifier of him who believeth in Jefus. Eph. ii. 7. That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace, in his kindness towards us, through Christ Jefus.

IV. 1 Gal. iii. 8. And the scripture foreseeing that God would juftify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. 1 Pet. i. 2. Elect, according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience, and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ. v. 19. But with the precious blood of Chrift, as of a Lamb without blemish and without spot. v. 20. Who verily was fore-ordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you. Rom. viii. 30. Moreover, whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also juftified:

and rise again for their justificationm: nevertheless they are not justified, until the holy Spirit doth in due time actually apply Christ unto them n.

God doth continue to forgive the sins of those that are justifiedo: And although they can never fall from the state of justificationp, yet they may by their sins fall under God's fatherly displeasure, and not have the light of his countenance restored unto them until they humble themselves, confess their sins, beg pardon, and renew their faith and repentance q.

But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, v. 5. Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the holy Ghost; v. 6. Which he shed on us abundantly, through Jesus Christ our Saviour; v. 7. That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs acording to the hope of eternal life.

CHAP. XII. Of Adoption.

LL those that are justified, God vouchsafeth, in and for his only Son Jesus Christ, to make partakers of the grace of adoption a: By which thy are taken into the number, and enjoy the liberties and privileges, of the Children

CHAP. XIII. Of Sanctification.

THEY who are effectually called and regenerated, hav

ing a new heart a new spirit created in them, are farther sanctified really and personally, through the virtue of Christ's death and refurrection a, by his word and Spirit dwelling in themb: the dominion of the whole body of fin is destroyed c, and the several lufts thereof are more and more weakened and mortified d, and they more and more quickened and strengthened in all saving gracese, to the practice of

way, referved in heaven for you. Heb. i. 14. Are they not all ministring spirits, fent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of falvation?

I. a 1 Cor. vi. 11. And fuch were fome of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. Acts xx. 32. And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them who are fanctified. Phil.iii. 10. That I may know him, and the power of his refurrection, and the fellowship of his fufferings, being made conformable unto his death. Rom. vi. 5. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death: we shall be also in the likeness of his refurrection. v. 6. Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of fin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not ferve fin.

For fin shall not have dominion over you: for you are not under the law, but under grace.
