The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man that sowed good seed in his field: 25but while men slept, "darnel his enemy came and sowed "tares also among the wheat, and went away. 26 But when the blade sprang up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. And the 'servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst thou not sow good seed in thy field? whence then hath it tares? 28And he said unto them, 'An enemy hath done this. And the 'servants say unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? 29But he saith, Nay; lest haply while ye gather up the tares, ye root up the wheat that with them. Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of the harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather up first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

31 Another parable set he before them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like unto a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field: 32 which indeed is less than all seeds; but when it is grown it is greater than the herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the heaven come and lodge peck and in the branches thereof.

33 Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till it was all leavened.

34 All these things spake Jesus in parables unto the multitudes; and without a parable spake he nothing unto them: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying,

house and his disciples came unto him, saying, Ex-
plain unto us the parable of the tares of the field.
37 And he answered and said, He that soweth the
good seed is the Son of man; 38and the field is the
world; and the good seed, these are the sons of the
kingdom; and the tares are the sons of the evil one:
39and the enemy that sowed them is the devil: and
the harvest is "the end of the world; and the reap-
ers are angels. "As therefore the tares are gath-
ered up and burned with fire; so shall it be in the
end of the world. "The Son of man shall send forth
his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom
all things that cause stumbling, and them that do
iniquity, and shall cast them into the furnace of
fire: there shall be the weeping and gnashing of
teeth. Then shall the righteous shine forth as the
sun in the kingdom of their Father. He that hath
ears, let him hear.

44 The kingdom of heaven is like unto a treasure
hidden in the field; which a man found, and hid;
and in his joy he goeth and selleth all that he hath,
and buyeth that field.

45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is a merchant seeking goodly pearls: "and having found one pearl of great price, he went and sold all that he had, and bought it.

47 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a 'net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind: which, when it was filled, they drew up on the beach; and they sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but the bad they cast away. So shall it be in the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the righteous, and shall cast them into the furnace dragnet of fire: there shall be the weeping and gnashing

of teeth.

53 And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished these parables, he departed thence. And coming into his own country he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these "mighty works? Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joseph, and Simon, and Judas? his sisters, are they not all with us? hath this man all these things? At that season Herod the tetrarch heard the report concerning Jesus, and said unto his servants, This is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead; and therefore do these powers work in him. For Herod had laid hold on John, and bound him, and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife. For John said unto him, It is not lawful for thee to have her. And when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet. But when Herod's birthday came, the daughter of Herodias danced in the midst, and pleased Herod. Whereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatsoever she should ask. "And his head was brought in a charger, and given to the damsel: and she brought it to her mother. "And his disciples came, and took up the corpse, and buried him; and they went and told Jesus.

13 Now when Jesus heard it, he withdrew from thence in a boat, to a desert place apart: and when the multitudes heard thereof, they followed him “on foot from the cities. "And he came forth, and saw a great multitude, and he had compassion on them, and healed their sick. And when even was come, the disciples came to him, saying, The place is desert, and the time is already past; send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves food. But Jesus said unto them, They have no need to go away; give ye them. to eat. "And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes. 18 And he said, Bring them hither to me. 19And he commanded the multitudes to 'sit down on the grass; and he took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake and gave the loaves to the disciples, and the disciples to the multitudes. And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up that which remained over of the broken pieces, twelve baskets full. And in the furlongs fourth watch of the night he came unto them, walk- from the ing upon the sea. And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is an apparition; and they cried out for fear. 27But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. 28And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee upon the waters. 29And he said, Come. And Peter went down from the boat, and walked upon the waters, 'to come to Jesus. 3oBut when he saw the wind, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, Lord, save me. "And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and took hold of him, and saith unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? 32And when they were gone up into the boat, the wind ceased. 33 And they that were in the boat worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.

34 And when they had crossed over, they came to the land, unto Gennesaret. 35And when the men of that place knew him, they sent into all that region round about, and brought unto him all that were sick; and they besought him that they might only touch the border of his garment: and as many as touched were made whole.
