God chose you "from the beginning unto salvation in sanctification of the Spirit and 'belief of the truth: ties read whereunto he called you through our gospel, to fruits the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. So then, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye were taught, whether by word, or by epistle of ours.

of the Lord may run and be glorified, even as also it is with you; and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and evil men; for all have not faith. But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and guard you from the evil one. *And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command. And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patience of Christ.

'For yourselves know how ye ought to imitate us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you; neither did we eat bread for nought at any man's hand, but in labour and travail, working night and day, that we might not burden any of you: 'not because we have not the right, but to make our selves an ensample unto you, that ye should imitate us. For even when we were with you, this we commanded you. If any will not work, neither let

you disorderly, that work not at all, but are busy-ardship bodies. Now them that are such we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread. But ye, brethren, be not weary in well-doing. And if any man obeyeth not our word by this epistle, note that man, that ye have no company with him, to the end that he may be ashamed. "And yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

16 Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in all ways. The Lord be with you all. 17 The salutation of me Paul with mine own hand, which is the token in every epistle: so I write. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.

Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus according to the commandment of God our Saviour, and Christ Jesus our hope; unto Timothy, my true. child in faith: Grace, mercy, peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

3 As I exhorted thee to tarry at Ephesus, when I was going into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge certain men not to teach a different doctrine, 'neither to give heed to fables and endless genealogies, the which minister questionings, rather than a "dispensation of God which is in faith; so do I now. teachers of the law, though they understand neither
what they say, nor whereof they confidently affirm.
But we know that the law is good, if a man use it
lawfully, as knowing this, that law is not made for
a righteous man, but for the lawless and unruly, for
the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and pro-

mothers, for manslayers, "for fornicators, for abusers
of themselves with men, for men-stealers, for liars,
for false swearers, and if there be any other thing

gospel of the glory of the blessed God, which was
committed to my trust.

12 I thank him that enabled me, even Christ Jesus our Lord, for that he counted me faithful, appointing me to his service; though I was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: howbeit I obtained mercy, because I did it ignoties real rantly in unbelief; and the grace of our Lord abounded exceedingly with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. Faithful is the saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief: "howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me as chief might Jesus Christ shew forth all his longsuffering, for an ensample of them which should hereafter believe on him unto eternal life. "Now unto the King eternal, incorruptible, invisible, the only God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

I exhort therefore, first of all, "that supplications, prayers, intercessions, thanksgivings, be made for all men ; 'for kings and all that are in high place; that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life Gr. in all godliness and gravity. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 'who willeth that all men should be saved, and come to the knowledge of the truth. In like manner, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefastness and sobriety; not with braided hair, and gold or pearls or costly raiment; but (which becometh women professing godliness) through good works. "Let a woman learn in quietness with all subjection. I permit not a woman to teach, nor to have dominion over a man, but to be in quietness. For Adam was first formed, then Eve; and Adam was not beguiled, but the woman being beguiled hath fallen into transgression: "but she shall be saved through the childbearing, if they continue in faith and love and sanctification with sobriety.
