THE Editor, in giving the History of the Work of Redemption has followed the fourth Edinburgh Edition, printed in the yeay 1793. This is according to the form to which ile manuscript was reduced by Dr. Erskine, and (ppears to have been printed with uncommon accurao, probably under the eye of the Doctor. This is pokerred to the London Edition, published in the year 08 by Mr. PITCHER. The Editor of this Edition, though he appears to have been conscientiously careful to preserve the sentiments of Mr. EDWARDS, has so varied the style, that we cease to rely thd what we read is the composition of the original Author. The copious notes attached to this Editioj werë evidentiy designed to embellish the work, and render it more acceptable among literary men. They are thoughị to be of no advan.

THEr w., have a relish for the study of the scriptures, and have access to peruse the following sheets, will, I am posuaded, deem themselves much indebted to the Reveren Mr. EDWARDS of Newhaven for consenting to pude them. Though the acute philosopher and deep drine appears in them, yet they are in the general better alculated for the insiruction and improvement of ordina:y Christians, than those of President EDWARDS's wrrings, where the abstruse nature of the subject, or the subtle objections of opposers of the built, led
