THE contents of "THE NEW TABLET OF MEMORY," or "THE MIRROR OF CHRONOLOGY," &c. have been compiled from the most authentic annals; and as the utility of every publication is its greatest recommendation, the present work is adapted to every class of readers, and to every possible emergency of reference and information. In it, the reader may at one view look into antiquity, and inform himself of incidents of modern date and occurrence. By reference to its pages, the perusal of voluminous authors is obviated, and the remembrance of facts and dates forgotten or but imperfectly remembered, readily recalled and applied.

The present Edition has been greatly improved and enlarged. The specification of the improvement which one division of the Work has received, may enable the Reader to form an opinion of its general emendation. To the head, "Eminent and Remarkable Men," above four hundred names of distinguished persons have been inserted, which had been omitted in all previous Editions. Many corrections of errors have also been made, and some new heads added.
