36 But of that day and hour no one knoweth, not the 'angels of heaven, but the Father alone. But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son 38 of man be. For as in the days that were before the 'flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered 39 into the ark, and they knew not until the flood came ' and took them all off; so also will the coming of the 40 'Son of man be. Then will two men be in the field; 41 'the one will be taken and the other left. Two women

45 'Son of man cometh. Who then is the faithful and wise 'slave, whom his lord hath set over his household, to give 46 'them food in due season? Blessed is that slave, whom 47 'his lord when he cometh shall find so doing; verily I 'say unto you, that he will set him over all his goods. 'But if that wicked slave shall say in his heart; My lord 49 'delayeth his coming; and shall begin to smite his fellow'slaves, and shall eat and drink with the drunken; the 'lord of that slave will come in a day when he looketh 51 not, and in an hour when he knoweth not, and will cut 'him off, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites; 'there will be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth. 1 'Then will the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten 'virgins, who took their lamps, and went forth to meet 'the bridegroom. And five of them were wise, and five 3 'foolish. They that were foolish took their lamps, and 4 'took no oil with them; but the wise took oil in their ' vessels with their lamps. And while the bridegroom 'tarried, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight 'there arose a cry; Behold, the bridegroom cometh, go 7'ye out to meet him. Then all those virgins arose, and 'trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise; 'Give us of your oil, for our lamps are going out. And 'the wise answered, saying; Lest there be not enough 'for us and for you, go ye rather to them that sell, and

'Afterwards came also the other virgins, saying; Lord, 11 'lord, open to us. But he answered and said; Verily I 12 'say unto you, I know you not. Watch therefore, for 13

'ye know not the day nor the hour. For as a man leaving the country, called his own slaves, and delivered unto them his goods; and unto one he gave five talents 15 '[or one thousand pounds], and to another two, and to another one, to each according to his several ability; then he straightway left the country. And he that had 16 ' received the five talents, went and traded with them, ' and made five other talents. And in like wise, he that 17 'had the two, he also gained other two. But he that had 18 '' received the one, went and digged in the earth, and hid 'his lord's money. After a long time the lord of those 19 'slaves cometh, and taketh an account with them. And 20 'he that had received the five talents came and brought 'five other talents, saying; Lord, thou deliveredst unto 'me five talents; behold, I have gained five other talents 'beside them. His lord said unto him; Well done, good 21 'and faithful slave; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will set thee over many; enter thou into the 'joy of thy lord. He also that had received the two 22 'talents came and said; Lord, thou deliveredst unto me

two talents; behold, I have gained two other talents beside them. His lord said unto him; Well done, good 23 ' and faithful slave; thou hast been faithful over a few 'things, I will set thee over many; enter thou into the 'joy of thy lord. Then he that had received the one 24 'talent came and said; Lord, I knew thee, that thou art

an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strewed; and I was 25 afraid, and I went and hid thy talent in the earth; behold, thou hast thine own. And his lord answered 26

' and said unto him; Wicked and slothful slave, thou 'knewest that I reap where I have not sowed, and 'gather where I have not strewed; thou oughtest there- 27 'fore to have put my money to the bankers, and at my coming I should have received my own with usury. 'that hath the ten talents. For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance; but 'from him that hath not shall be taken away even that 30 'which he hath. And cast ye the unprofitable slave 'into the outer darkness; there shall be the weeping ' and the gnashing of teeth. And when the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the angels with him, then 32 will he sit upon the throne of his glory; and before him 'will be gathered all the nations; and he will separate 'them one from another, as the shepherd separateth the 33 'sheep from the goats; and he will place the sheep on his 34 right hand, and the goats on his left. Then will the 'king say to those on his right hand; Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you 'from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry, and ye gave me meat; I was thirsty, and ye gave me 36 'drink; I was a stranger, and ye took me in ; naked, and 'ye clothed me; I was sick, and ye visited me; I was ' in prison, and ye came unto me. Then will the righteous answer him, saying; Lord, when did we see thee an 'hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? 'And when did we see thee a stranger, and took thee in? 39 or naked, and clothed thee? And when did we see 'thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the 'king will answer and say to them; Verily I say unto 'you, inasmuch as ye did it unto one of these the least 41 of my brethren, ye did it unto me. Then will he say ' also unto those on the left hand; Depart from me, ye 'cursed, into the everlasting fire, prepared for the devil ' and his angels; for I was hungry, and ye gave me no 43 'meat; I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink; I was a 'stranger, and ye took me not in; naked, and ye clothed 44 'me not; sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. Then 'will they also answer, saying; Lord, when saw we thee 'hungry, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in 45 prison, and did not minister unto thee? Then will he answer them, saying; Verily I say unto you, inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it 'not to me. And these shall go away into everlasting 'punishment, and the righteous into everlasting life.' 1 And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished all these 2 sayings, he said unto his disciples; 'Ye know that after

'two days is the Passover, and the Son of man is be'trayed to be crucified.' Then assembled together the high priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people, into the court [or palace] of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas, and consulted that they might take Jesus by craft, and kill him. But they said; 'Not during the 'feast, lest there be an uproar among the people.'

Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, there came unto him a woman having an alabaster jar of very precious ointment, and she poured on his head as he lay at meat. But when his disciples saw it they were angry, saying; 'Wherefore is this 'waste? For this might have been sold for much, and 9 'given to the poor.' But when Jesus understood it, he 10 said unto them; 'Why trouble ye the woman? for she 'hath wrought a good work upon me. For ye have the 11

poor always with you, but me ye have not always. For in pouring this ointment on my body, she did it for 12 'my burial. Verily I say unto you, wherever these 13 'Good Tidings are preached in the whole world, what she 'hath done will also be spoken of as a memorial of her.'

Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went to 14 the high priests, and said; 'What will ye give me, and 15 'I will deliver him up to you?' And they counted unto him thirty pieces of silver. And from that time he 16 sought a fit season to betray him.

Now on the first day of the Unleavened Bread the dis- 17 ciples came to Jesus, saying unto him; 'Where wilt thou 'that we make ready for thee to eat the Passover?' And he said; 'Go into the city to such a man, and say 18 unto him, The teacher saith; My time is at hand; I 'will keep the Passover at thy house with my disciples.' And the disciples did as Jesus ordered them, and made 19 ready the Passover. Now when it was evening he lay 20 down to meat with the twelve. And as they were eating, 21 he said; Verily I say unto you, that one of you will 'betray me.' And they were very sorry, and began each 22 of them to say unto him; 'Lord, is it I?' And he 23 answered and said; 'He that dipped his hand with me

Then

Judas, who betrayed him, answered and said; 'Rabbi, 26 is it I?' He saith unto him; Thou hast said.' And

as they were eating, Jesus took the bread, and gave praise, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said; 27 Take, eat; this is my body.' And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying; 'Drink all 28 of you out of it; for this is my blood, that of the new covenant, which is shed for many for forgiveness of sins. 'But I say unto you, I shall not drink henceforth of this 'fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new 'with you in my Father's kingdom.'

And when they had sung a hymn, they went out on 31 to the Mount of Olives. Then saith Jesus unto them; 'Ye will all stumble because of me this night; for it is 'written; I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the 32 flock shall be scattered. But after I am risen, I will go. before you into Galilee.' And Peter answered and said

unto him; 'If all shall stumble because of thee, yet ' will I never stumble.' Jesus said unto him; 'Verily I say unto thee, that this night, before the cock crow, 35 'thou wilt deny me thrice.' Peter saith unto him; 'Though I must die with thee, I will not deny thee.' And in like wise said all the disciples.

Then cometh Jesus with them into a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples; Sit ye here, 37' while I go and pray yonder.' And he took with him

Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be 38 sorrowful, and very heavy. Then saith he unto them; My soul is very sorrowful, even unto death; tarry ye 39 here and watch with me.' And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying; 'My Father, if 'it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, 40 'not as I will, but as thou wilt.' And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter; What, had ye not strength to watch with me 41 one hour? Watch and pray, that ye enter not into 'temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh 'is weak.' Again, he went away a second time, and prayed, saying; 'My Father, if this cup cannot pass away 6 from me, unless I drink it, may thy will be done.' And he came and found them asleep again, for their eyes
