righteous.

2 To fear God and not man.
3 To beware of covetousness.

HISTORY.

GRADE I.

Jesus told his dis-
ciples not to be afraid of
men, but to fear God. Not
to covet riches, but to trust
God for food and clothing.
He spoke of God feeding
the ravens, and clothing the

lilies. He said, 'Blessed are those
servants, whom the Lord when he
cometh, shall find watching.'

GRADE II.

Jesus said unto his
disciples, Beware ye of
the leaven of the Pharisees,
which is hypocrisy.''Be
not afraid of them that kill
the body, and after that have
no more that they can do:'
but fear him, which after
he hath killed hath power
to cast into hell.' 'Beware
of covetousness.' 'Take no
thought for your life, what
ye shall eat; neither for the
body, what ye shall put
on. Consider the ravens :
for they neither sow nor
reap; which neither have
store house nor barn: and
God feedeth them.' Con-

Ry abstaining from eating except they washed, by making long prayers, and by giving alms they made observers believe they were righteous; while, at the same time, they made long prayers to deceive, that they might devour widows' houses, and oppress the poor.

If this Lesson be extended through two sabbaths, in the fourth and fifth grades, the teachers of the second and thara grades will do well to exercise their classes in the Preceding Lessons, in which they wili fiad abundance to occupy the day very profitably.

XI.-Heaven and Hell.

THERE is beyond the sky
A heaven of joy and love?
And holy children when they die,
Go to that world above.

4

There is a dreadful hell,

And everlasting pains;

Where sinners must with devils dwell,
In darkness, fire, and chains.

3 Can sinners such as I
Escape this cursed end?
And may I hope, whene'er I die,
I shall to heaven ascend?

4 Then I for grace will pray
While I have life and breath;
Lest I should be cut off to-day,
And sent to eternal death.
