Acts, xxvi. 19, 20. Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not
disobedient to the heavenly vision: but shewed first unto them
at Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the
coasts of Judea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should
repent, and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance. 89
Romans, ii. 5-9. Who will render to every man according to
his deeds: to them who, by patient continuance in well doing,
seek for glory, honour, and immortality eternal life: but unto
them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey
unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, tribulation and an_
guish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil.
James, i. 22-25. But be ye doers of the word, and not hear-
ers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer
of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding
his natural face in a glass. For he beholdeth himself, and
goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man
he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty,
and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a
doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
