For which I am an anbaffador in ads: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ght to speak.

But that ye alfo may know my afairs, how I do, Tychicus, a beloved brother

his readiness to suffer. and faithful minifter in the Lord, shall make known to you all things:

22 Whom I have fent unto you for the fame purpose, that ye might know our affairs, and that he might comfort your hearts.

23 Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, trom God the Father and the Lord Jefus Chrift.

24 Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jefus Chrift in incerity. Amen. Written from Rome unto the Ephe. fians by Tychicus.

The Epistle of PAUL the Apoftle to the PHILIPPIANS.

CHAP. I.

Paul's thankfulness and prayer to God for them: 21 his readiness to fuffer. AUL and Timotheus, the fervants of Jefus Chrift, to all the faints in Chrift fus which are at Philippi, with the bishops id deacons :

2 Grace be unto you, and peace, from God ur Father, and from the Lord Jefus Chrift. 3 I thank my God upon every remem. rance of you,

4 Always in every prayer of mine for you 11, making requeft with joy,

s For your fellowship in the gofpel from the first day until now;

6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jefus Chrift:

7 Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, becaufe I have you in my heart; inafmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gofpel, ye all are partakers of my grace.

8 For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jefus Chrift.

9 And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge, and in all judgment;

10 That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be fincere, and with out offence, till the day of Chrift;

11 Being filled with the truits of righteouf gefs, which are by Jefus Chrift, unto the glory and praife of God.

12 But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the further. ance of the gospel;

13 So that my bonds in Chrift are manifeft in all the palace, and in all other places;

14 And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to fpeak the word without tear.

15 Some indeed preach Chrift even of envy and trife; and fome alfo of good will:

16 The one preach Chrift of contention, not fincerely, fuppofing to add affliction to my bonds:

17 But the other of love, knowing that I am fet for the defence of the gospel.

18 What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.

19 For I know that this fhall turn to my falvation through your prayer, and the fupply of the Spirit of Jefus Chrift,

20 According to my earned expectation,

and my hope, that in nothing I fhall be a fhamed, but that with all boldness, as always, Jo now alfo, Chrift fhall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.

21 For to me to live is Chrift, and to die is gain.

22 But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I fhall choose I wot

not.

23 For I am in a ftrait betwixt two, having a defire to depart, and to be with Chrift; which is far better:

24 Nevertheless, to abide in the flesh i more needful for you.

25 And having this confidence, I know that I fhall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith;

26 That your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jefus Chrift for me by my coming to you again.

27 Only let your converfation be as it becometh the gofpel of Chritt: that whether L come and fee you, or elfe be alfent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye ftand faft in one fpirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gofpel; :^.

28 And in nothing terrified by your adver faries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of falvation, and that of God.

29 For unto you it is given in the behalf of Chrift, not only to believe on him, but also to fuffer for his fake;

30 Having the fame conflict which ye faw in me, and now hear to be in me. CHA P. II.

1 He exhorteth to unity and humility, 12 andto a careful proceeding in the way of falvation.

there be therefore any confolation in Chrift, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,

2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the fame love, being of one accord, of

one mind.

3 Let nothing be done through trife or vain glory; but in lowlinefs of mind let each

efteem other better than themselves.

4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man alfo on the things of others.

Let this mind be in you, which was alfo in Chrift Jefus:

6 Who being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

7 But made himfelt of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a fervant, and was made in the likeness of men :

he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the crofs.

9 Wherefore God alfo hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

10 That at the name of Jefus every knee fhould bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue thould confefs that Jefus Chrift is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my prefence only, but now much more in my abfence, work out your own falt tion with tear and trem. bling.

13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do ot bis good pleasure. 14 Do all things without murmurings and difputings:

15 That ye may be blamelefs and harmlefs, the fons of God, without rebuke, in the midft of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye thine as lights in the world;

16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Chrift, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

17 Yea, and it I be offered upon the facrifice and fervice of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all.

18 For the fame caufe alfo do ye joy, and rejoice with me.

19 But I truft in the Lord Jefus to fend Timotheus fhortly unto you, that I alfo may be of good comfort when I know your itate.

20 For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your ftate.

21 For all feck their own, not the things which are Jefus Chrift's.

22 But ye know the proof of him, that, as a fon with the father, he hath ferved with me in the gospel.

23 Him therefore I hope to fend prefently, fo foon as I thall fee how it will go with me. 24 But I truft in the Lord that I alfo myfelf thall come shortly.

25 Yet I fuppofed it neceffary to fend to you Epaphroditus, my brother and companion in labour, and fellow-foldier, but your meffenger, and he that miniftered to my

wants.

26 For he longed after you all, and was full of heavinefs, because that ye had heard that he had been fick.

27 For indeed he was fick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me alfo, lett I should have forrow upon forrow.

28 1 fent him therefore the more carefully, that, when ye fee him again, ye may rejoice, and that I may be the lefs forrowful.

29 Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness; and hold fuch in reputation:

30 Becaufe for the work of Chrift he was nigh unto death, not regarding his life, to fupply your lack of fervice toward me.

CHAP. II.

Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the fame things to you, to nie indeed is not grievous, but for you it is fafe. 3 Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concition.

14 Notwithstanding ye have well done, that ye did communicate with my affliction.

15 Now, ye Philippians, know alfo, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving but ye only.

16 For even in Theffalonica ye fent once and again unto my necesity.

17 Not because I defire a gift: but I defire fruit that may abound to your account.

18 But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a fweet fmell, a facrifice acceptable, well pleafing to God.

The Epistle of PAUL the Apoftle to the COLOSSIANS.

CHAP. I.

12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which He thanketh God for their faith, 15 and hath made us meet to he partakers of the inheritance of the faints in light; defcribeth the true Chrift. PAUL an apostle of Jefus Chrift by the will

of God, and Timotheus our brother,

2 To the faints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Coloffe: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jefus Chrift.

3 We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jefus Chrift, praying always for you. 4 Since we heard of your faith in Chrift Jefus, and of the love which ye have to all the faints,

5 For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel,

6 Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth alfo in you, fince the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth:

As ye alfo learned of Epaphras our dear fellow-fervant, who is for you à faithful minifter of Chrift;

8 Who alfo declared unto us your love in the Spirit.

9 For this caufe we alfo, fince the day we heard it, do not ceafe to pray for you, and to defire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and fpiritual understanding;

10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleafing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God.

II Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and long fuffering with joyfulness;

13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath tranflated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the torgiveness of fins:

15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, vifible and invifible, whether they be thrones, or do minions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

17 And he is before all things, and by him all things confift.

18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firit-born from the dead; that in all things he might have the pre-eminence.

19 For it pleafed the Father that in him fhould all fulness dwell;

20 And, having made peace through the blood of his crofs, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I fay, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

21 And you, that were fometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled,

22 In the body of his fleth through death, to prefent you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his fight:
