MANUFACTURED PRODUCTS OF TOBACCO. 295,395 The value of cigars and cigarettes was 56.6 per cent of the total value of all tobacco manufactures in 1900 in this country; chewing and smoking tobacco and snuff, 36.7 per cent, and tobacco, stemmed and rehandled, 6.7 per cent. The total production for the year was 868,163,275 pounds, an increase of 77.8 per cent over 1890. The cultivation of tobacco on a large scale is confined to a few States, Kentucky, North Carolina, Virginia, Ohio and Tennessee being the largest producers in the order named. the United States grows yearly one-half the world's supply of tobacco.
