THE following Lessons were written for the use of our Sunday School Teachers in preparing their children for the Catechizing in Church. They were published by the Church Extension Association in Our Work, and also in separate monthly parts, and obtained such an unexpectedly wide circulation, that it is thought they may prove more generally useful. The series has accordingly been completed, and they are sent forth in this little volume. No originality can be claimed for them, as many different books were consulted when they were being written; but I am not aware that the Lessons bear much resemblance to any other series, except in their general arrangement. The short Answers to the Questions may be learnt by heart by younger children; while the references and notes within brackets may be used at the discretion of teachers, according to the capacities of their different scholars.
